Classify

At the core of Flora Malesiana is the production and publication of taxonomic accounts on the flora of the region. The symposium organisers are inviting speakers to highlight new research findings which are helping to classify the massive species diversity found across the region.

Cultivate

A particular theme of this symposium will be the role of living plants held in Botanic Gardens and Research Institutes around the world in helping to understand biodiversity. Speakers who can provide insight into the cultivation of plants from the region and how they have been used for scientific and horticultural research and conservation are particularly welcome.

Conserve

The classification and naming of plants is the foundation from which conservation activities can be delivered. The symposium welcomes presentations from researchers who can highlight how their research is helping to identify plants under threat and the impact that their research is having on their conservation.
The organising committee would also welcome a range of talks on other aspects of the flora of the region such as Systematics, Sustainable Development, Ecology, Biogeography, Evolutionary Biology, e-Taxonomy, Education.
